Hamburg PA., – Members of the firearms and outdoor industry, joined juniors, weekend enthusiasts, amateur and professional competitors at the thirty-first Annual Sportsman’s Team Challenge National Championships. The match held at Title sponsor Bass Pro Shops, Big Cedar Shooting Academy in Ridgedale, MO July 19-21, 2018 attracted 50, two and three person teams, with competitors traveling from three countries and 14 states. Match Director Doug Koenig elected not to compete, instead immersing himself in the daily activities of managing the match to give competitors, guests and spectators the best match experience.

Koenig said, “What continues to amaze me is the level of camaraderie that exists among all of the competitors to support one another, yet they exhibit a fierce competitive spirit between each team.” Commenting on the new venue of the match this year, Koenig offered, “Big Cedar Shooting Academy demonstrated why it’s a world-class shooting facility, it did not disappoint with its stunning vistas and close proximity to nearby entertainment capitol Branson, MO.”


With cash and an overflowing prize table value that exceeded 125K, competitors were overwhelmed with the caliber of prizes donated, along with redeemable gift certificates for close to thirty firearms. Representing what the shooting community is all about, Industry sponsors played an integral role in supporting the event with generous donations.

From its inception in the late 1980’s, the Sportsman’s Team Challenge celebrates 31 years of attracting juniors, newcomers, families and competition shooters who continue to enjoy its family and spectator friendly atmosphere, popularity and growing tradition. The match is a two or three person team event, combining multi-discipline shooting competition of a rifle, pistol and shotgun.
