Grand Island, NE – Competitive shooters took on zombies in Grand Island last weekend, and even though the targets have gone back to regular shapes now, hundreds of more professionals are still stepping out on the range there.
Kathleen McCarthy says she’s not just aiming for prizes alongside her friend Janine Bowman, but says the Texas team is here to have fun.
“I’ve made a lot of friends shooting the Sportsman’s Team Challenge and that’s kind of what keeps me coming out,” says McCarthy, of Dallas, Texas. “Even though some of those have kind of dropped out here and there, but they seem to come back quite on a regular basis.”
And that’s what match director and professional shooter Doug Koenig hopes will happen. He says he took over the national championship, now in its 29th year, and moved it up from Florida and Texas to the Heartland Public Shooting Park in G.I.
